What is a requesting agency?

A requesting agency is any organization that requires an individual to complete Live Scan, such as an employer, law enforcement agency, school, non-profit, or home-care organization. It is sometimes also called an applicant agency.

What is Live Scan fingerprinting?

Live Scan is the electronic method of capturing fingerprints and securely transmitting them to government authorities for a criminal history check. It replaces traditional ink fingerprinting in states where it is available.

Can I get my fingerprints sent to another state?

No. States require Live Scan transactions to be completed within the same state receiving the fingerprints. However, ink fingerprinting may be accepted for out-of-state applicants. For California, instructions and forms are available at oag.ca.gov .

If I have an ink fingerprint card, can you mail it for me?

Mailing must be done by the applicant unless arranged separately. NABPRO provides separate mailing and shipping services. Please confirm with our staff before or during your visit.

What if I get a rejection letter?

You may visit any Live Scan location for resubmission, but additional fees may apply. If rejected due to data errors, returning to the original location may help avoid extra charges.

What if the operator made an error on my submission?

If the operator entered information incorrectly, a new transaction must be completed. Fees may be waived if the error was the operator’s responsibility.
